Fun in the Sun

Today was a great day for Baron. He got to spend the evening with Nathan. They played out in the sun for a couple of hours. He even gave Nathan the, "Dad, that's enough pictures" look!
Around 7 o'clock Nathan decided it was time to feed Baron so Nathan put him in his highchair, gave him a bottle and he did not even get 1ounce down and he was out for a quick cat nap.

Second Attempt

We tried the rice cereal again tonight. I really can't tell if Baron is swallowing any of it. I think it just entertains him for a few minutes and makes a really big mess! He was really tired tonight and went to bed almost an hour early. We are tired too - it must be all that fun from the weekend catching up to us!

Go COUGS!

Monday was our lazy day in Quincy. We stayed at Grandma and Grandpa's house all day, but still had visitors. Bob and Gail came first. This was Bob's first time meeting Baron. Then our friend from college, Cory, and his wife Michelle came to visit and brought Baron a bear wearing a WSU sweatshirt. It was almost like we planned for this picture because Baron was wearing a WSU onsie that day and Cory and Michelle both had crimson and gray on. (So did Nate, but I know that doesn't suprise anyone!). Baron was a little on the grouchy side during the visit, but I think he was finally worn out from such a busy weekend!

The Family Reunion

Sunday at the Reiman Simmons historic house in Quincy there was a Weber family gathering. It was a beautiful day so Baron and I spent alot of time playing in the shade under a tree. Baron loves to hear the sound of his voice again so he was making alot of squawking noises! It was a great day - here are a couple of pictures from the day.

Baron is showing me the scratch he gave himself under his right eye!

Baron was loved showing off to Pam Nutter when she was holding Jourdan. Silly boy!

Jourdan and Baron holding hands and sharing slobber! They played with each other for about 15 minutes just admiring and gently grabbing each other. It was so sweet!

Great Grandma Day!

Today we went to visit Baron's great grandma Curdy. We took a 4 generation picture and then Baron decided to be a little goofy!Later that evening we went over to Aunt Sara's and Uncle Todd's house for a BBQ. It was a beautiful evening. Baron was very content sitting on his great grandma Weber's lap. He also played on a blanket on the ground and showed everyone how he can roll from his tummy to his back.

Uncle Todd and Aunt Sara practiced being parents ...only 3 more months and Baron will have a cousin!

Taking it all in...

Today we drove to Quincy for Memorial Day weekend. It is a long drive so once we arrived Baron was ready to play before bed! Baron stood up on the couch and looked at the view from grandma and grandpa Weber's living room. Baron must love the country because he did this many times throughout the weekend.

A day of firsts

The morning started for Baron and I at 4:45am when I heard Baron laughing in his crib. I went in his room and he was wide awake so I picked him up and brought him back to bed with me. Shortly after he fell back asleep in our bed and was still sleeping after Nate and I were both ready for work.
Once we were all home from work and daycare we decided to try out the new highchair. Baron likes it and we do too! It reclines and now that he wants to hold his own bottle he can feed himself a little while we eat. So we started with the first time that Baron fed himself.
Next was our first time to feed Baron rice cereal. He wasn't sure what to think at first.
After a few bites he decided he liked it! Yum!
And then after dinner Baron decided to show us he can roll over from his tummy to his back. He did it 2 times! Good job Baron!

Brrrrr...

One thing I have noticed Baron doing lately is shivering/getting the chills (that isn't what is happening in this picture, but seeing him naked after a bath made me think of it). It is so cute, but I can just hear both of his grandma's now "Get clothes on that boy - he is cold!" "Put a warm blanket around him - he is going to catch a cold!" Receiving unsolicited advice - that just comes with the territory of being a new parent! :) And most of the time we appreciate a little big of that advice.
As I write tonights blog I am watching Nate put together Baron's new high chair. Tomorrow we are going to try rice cereal! It should be a fun blog tomorrow.

Shhhh...Don't Tell Mom

Tonight was a fun night for Baron and Nathan as it was the 1st of many father/son nights. When Baron was told tonight that it was going to be just him and Dad, he got real excited and gave a big cheesy grin!
Yesterday at Baron's 4 month appointment, the doctor told us that we can begin introducing food to him. Nathan decided tonight to just start with a whole apple since the mushed up stuff just doesn't do an apple justice! (Just joking - Nate just wanted to take a picture since Baron is into putting everything in mouth)You can see from the picture after him trying to take a bite out of the apple, that he enjoyed his opportunity by showing another big grin but this time with extra slobber on his chin.

After a few hours of excitement and trouble, it was time to wined down with book time (Surprise Surprise, it was a WSU Cougar book from Aunt Alyson, "Hello Butch")

Gizmo

Tonight was a sad night at the Holstein house. Our dog, Gizmo, went to live with a new family. Nate and I loved Gizmo very much, but he needed a family without kids. So tonight a nice older couple came to our house with their 10 year old Shih Tzu and met Gizmo. They all got along very well so Gizmo packed all of his things and went to live with them. They gave us an open invitation to come and visit anytime. We will miss you Gizmo, but we know you are in good hands and you will have alot of fun in your new home.

Fun at the Prchal's house!

Baron and I had a fun time at Aunt Susie and Uncle Kevin's house while Nathan was at Tyler's Bachelor party. Today we (Grandma and Grandpa Weber, Susie, Kevin, myself and Baron) enjoyed going to their church. If we lived closer we would definitely go every Sunday with them. It was a neat church. If Baron was a little bit older he would probably insist we go back. The church was designed for children's ministry. It looked so fun I wished I was a kid again.
After church we went back to the Holstein's to spend more time with them. It was another beautiful sunny day so we sat outside on the patio and listened to the stories from the Bachelor party. Sounds like it was an exciting evening for Tyler and Nathan.
After a long drive we were finally back home at 8pm. Baron was not a good passenger because of his cold so it made the trip feel very long!

Sunny Day in Seattle

We started our morning out at the Holstein house today. It was a beautiful morning. Grandma Lynn got out of bed extra early just to spend time with Baron! Shortly after, Baron and I left to go to Aunt Susie's house so we could go to their communities yard sales. Susie lives in a community with many young familes so we were looking for a few specific items.

The evening ended in the Prchal's backyard where Baron met my God parents for the first time. What a wonderful day with family and friends!

Cheating

I didn't take any pictures today so I am using more from yesterday. Baron is enjoying being on his tummy more and more. We'll have a mobile child before we know it!

The Tongue

Everyday Baron seems to discover something new. For the past week it has been a high pitch loud scream which was starting to be a little less cute. Today the scream was replaced with the tongue. It started this morning when I was getting him dressed for the day. I don't think it has been back inside his mouth since!

New (well almost new) toy

I love craigslist! It has literally saved us hundreds of dollars on baby items. Today I was able to get a "hunk-o-plastic" that every child and parent must have. I think the real name of this contraption is an exersaucer. They retail for nearly $100 (give or take), but I found this one for $15 and it is in perfect condition! Thanks to my mom for teaching me that new is not always necessary or worth it and a great deal is even more fun to find. So enough about that...

I came home to a tired boy who slept alot today. His report said he played hard which means he sleeps hard! He woke up just long enough for me to put him in his new toy. Funny - good thing I only paid $15 for it because I'm not sure he likes it :) Hopefully it grows on him.

Mother's Day

Mother's Day is a great holiday! My day started with sleeping in - well attempting to sleep in. Then Baron brought me a card and a couple of gifts. It was very sweet! We tried to spend as much of the day playing together as possible. Baron gave me an abundance of smiles and giggles today as well which are the greatest gifts a mom can ever ask for!
I have a new famous saying that I sarted when Baron was born. Today Nate had to hear the saying more than the usual. "Gosh I love that little boy."

Full belly & Chicken legs

We were getting ready to go to a birthday party and part of that means making sure Baron's belly is full. Judging from the picture we did a good job! Then he stands up and the belly disappears and all you can see are those skinny little legs.

Baron had a great time at the party. He met another baby - named Blair who is the daugter of my sister's college roomate Marcy. He talked and smiled at everyone. And then went to sleep right about the time he would normally go to bed. I think we are really lucky to have such an easy going baby.

Too cool

Nate and Baron were playing with the sunglasses today. The best part about the picture with the sunglasses is that you can still see those BIG eyes through them. And has anyone noticed those chubby cheeks!?!

Yeah for Fridays! We are looking forward to a sunny weekend and my first Mother's Day. Baron made a mother's day gift for me at Carla's today and suprised me with it when I picked him up. I'll have to take a picture of it for Sunday's blog.

16 Weeks

16 weeks is a fun age! Baron is so talkative and he shows more emotions. We are so lucky because he is a happy baby 95% of the time. Today on my way home from work I was thinking about how much I love being a mom. Even though it means 10 more loads of laundry a week, noticing occasional spit up on my clothes once I get to work and a five inch scar on my stomach it is worth it!

No Power

At about 8pm we lost power and I was unable to Blog. It was the most peaceful night we've had in a long time. We also decided we use ALOT of power. Between the dishwasher, washer & dryer, TV, computer and lights - we are a power house!

15 Hour Day!

My alarm goes off and 5am and I get up and get ready before Baron wakes up, but today Baron had a different plan. During the night he had magically removed his legs and arms from the miracle blanket (also known as a baby straight jacket). So at 4:58am I heard "Baron Chatter" coming through the baby monitor. Waking up to him chatting will never get old! I went in to his room and brought him back to Nate so I could still shower. It was a hectic morning after this calm picture in the bed. I was changing him from his PJ's to his outfit for the day when he managed to pee on the changing pad. Then as I was changing the cover on the changing pad "old faithful" went off again on the crib sheets and crib bumper (totally my fault, but the kid loves to be naked so I push my luck every once in a while). So I picked him up out of the crib to put him back on the changing pad and he spit up all over my shoulder! We still managed to get to Carla's house and work on time, but like I said - it was hectic!
Tonight ended with the usual bath time. We had to take this picture because Baron is getting more and more hair everyday. We can even spike it when it is wet. Soon he'll look just like his dad!

Sing along!

It is amazing how much slobber can come out of such a small mouth! Someday we will get into the habit of putting a bib on the little man!
Baron is opening his hands and grabbing onto things more and more everyday. Tonight Vanessa and him were singing and smiling at each other while Baron hung onto Vanessa's fingers. Another evening of fun times in the Holstein home!

We love family!

Baron had a wonderful weekend with his Aunt Sara and Uncle Todd (and the little cousin we can't wait to meet!). We spent alot of time at home with Baron playing on a blanket in the living room. The sun decided to come out just as they were leaving this morning. That is very typical Oregon weather.
Nathan decided to teach Baron to yell/screach/scream today. It was funny at first, but I have a feeling Nate might regret it soon!

Uncle Todd & Aunt Sara

Uncle Todd and Aunt Sara came to play this weekend. We tried all day to get Baron to giggle for them, but I guess he only giggles for grandma Weber. :) Baron did enjoy showing us how strong his legs are by standing up tall and sticking out his belly. There was also alot of baby talk around the house since Sara will be having a baby at the end of August. Baron is very excited for his cousin!!

The Perfect Day

Today I stayed home to spend time with Baron. I couldn't have asked for a better day. He ate and slept and played like a champ! We even had sunshine! It is amazing how much his daily routine has changed since I went back to work. I know I have him on the weekends, but a day at home with just the two of us is very different. It was very much needed and we made the most of every single minute. One major change is that he is very close to rolling over from his back to his stomach. This picture was taken on our deck tonight after dinner. We were telling Nate/Dad how much fun we had today. The famous saying applies...A picture is worth a thousand words...
