The Accident
In preparation for Father's Day, I was taking pictures of the kids holding the letters "D" and "A." I gave Nathan a frame that holds three pictures for his first Father's day and each year have taken pictures of Baron holding the letters to spell DAD. This was the first year to have both kids in the frame. I was so excited, but the kids were not really into it.
Shortly after this picture was taken, Harper fell back into the bush. I picked her up and was brushing off the back of her head. When I brushed off what appeared to be a red berry blood started gushing from the back of her head. This was the first head wound on either of my children and the amount of blood made me freak out! I was yelling at Baron to follow me into the house. When the bleeding didn't stop, we walked/ran next door to our neighbor Rob's house. He is a fire fighter and I just needed reassurance that it was not as terrible as it seemed. I believe I was saying "Baron, HURRY - we need to go to Rob's house. Harper is hurt." He followed me in a two-year-old-hurry-speed. Long story short - she was fine and now we are good enough friends with the neighbors that they like to tease me about it. The best part is that the next day Baron hit his sister with a bowling pin and she started crying for obvious reasons. He looked at me and said "Hurry mom, we better go to Rob's house."

Oh the things we do...
We go to great lengths to entertain our children some evenings. Tonight is a prime example. Nathan stuck Harper in a tree to "give her a different view." She clapped like it was the best thing that had happened all day.
Of course if you do something for one child then you must do it for other - right?!! Baron is entertained so easily (and I love that about him because he makes me feel like a rock star as a result).
He didn't want to get down. He wanted to pose. I think this one I will save for his Senior year book.

It's Quiet...SHOOT It's Quiet...
Slience and a two year old are never a good combination. I was starting to make dinner and the kids were playing in the living room. The diaper bag was also in the living room. How in the world did I not hear the loud noise from the velcro that shuts the bag? All I know is that I had this thought "Wow, it is quiet...oh no...crap...it is quiet." I turned around and this is not what I saw. I actually saw a half naked child, laying on his back with legs up over his head. He was applying desitin. It was not pretty. I could have freaked out that a Costco size bottle of Desitin was spread all over Baron. I decided to be thankful it was not all over my couch or his sister. He really was trying to use it in the correct application. So I tossed a wash cloth over his naked parts, grabbed the camera and then added Desitin to the Costco list this week!
