Little Monkey

My little monkey is trying to pull himself up on everything lately. He is keeping me on my toes!

One more thing

I can't believe I forgot this because it was the highlight of my day and I definitely want to remember it forever.
Today I called my mom to ask her a question and Baron wanted to say hello. I put the phone up to his ear and as soon as he heard her he smiled and did a little wiggle. This might not sound like much, but back in August Baron and his Grandma Weber were sitting outside on a blanket and his grandma would say "wiggle wiggle wiggle" and he would lay on the blanket and wiggle like a worm. Since then it has been their little "thing."
When Nate came home I needed to call my mom again so just for fun we decided to see if he would do it again and sure enough - as soon as he heard her voice he started to wiggle.
I love it when kids make up their own names for the grandparents (one of my favorites is "Go-Go"). I wonder if Grandma Weber will be called "wiggle?"

Table Toy

This table toy was one of the great finds at the yard sales over the weekend. Baron loves it! Tonight he pulled himself right up to stand and play.
His favorite part of it is the little music book. He loves to turn pages whenever I read to him so it is no surprise that he loves to stand and turn these pages.
This was my view from the kitchen. He looks so tiny - almost too tiny to be standing! It brought tears to my eyes.
High-five dad - I'm standing!

Pull ups

Today was a great day. It was simple. Baron and I attended our baby/mama class which we thoroughly enjoy. We also did some laundry and played alot. Life is good. As soon as Nate came home, Baron decided to show off again and pulled himself off of Nate's lap to a stand while holding onto the stair banister.

My little dust mop

It may be difficult to see in this picture, but Baron's white shirt is a light shade of tan thanks to a small puddle of water that was on the floor and then hours of doing "the worm" (his form of crawling) across the hardwood floor. Someone needs to invent a onsie that has a dust mop on the belly - that way I could just spray it with some cleaner and send him on his way. Better yet - I would put that moving tractor in front of him and then I would be guaranteed a clean floor!
The most exciting news from today - Baron pulled himself up to a standing position all by himself! He grabbed the side of his toy basket and in no time was standing. It scared him more than it excited him. Perhaps that is because Nate yelled immediately at me to come and look and we both stood their watching him in shock. This mama is not sure she is ready for all of this...

ABC

One of the items on my yard sale wish list was alphabet magnets. I was really hoping to stumble upon the Leapfrog set, but at least I found something. Baron loves them and it keeps him off my ankles while I am in the kitchen.
Nate thinks he grew a ton while we were gone for 3 days. Looking at this picture I would have to agree. Oh - plan on seeing a cougar shirt on every Saturday post from now until December. We love football season in this house (we'll Nate does - I like the first month and Baron would rather play football than watch it).

Yum!

I didn't take any pictures today because we left Quincy around 8am. We drove to Susie's house because it is her neighborhood's yard sale weekend. These are GREAT yard sales if you have a small child. I picked up a few new toys, a super cute Halloween costume, a couple of pairs of 18 month PJ's (yes - he will be wearing those in a couple of weeks) and a few other miscellaneous items. We were going to stay Friday night and do some more shopping on Saturday, but we had found everything on our wish list and we missed daddy/Nate! So I did our normal bath/bed routine and then Grandma fed Baron his bottle. He was alseep before he was in the car. At 10pm we pulled into our drive way ....ahhhh...Home Sweet Home!
So you may be wondering why I have a picture of apples - well while I was in Quincy dad and I went apple picking. We loaded up the entire back of our pathfinder. I can just imagine the pies, dried apples, applesauce, apple crisp and cake...oh and the best - fresh apples! YUM!

Clinton's Baby Shower

Wow -what a night! Baron did not sleep much last night and we are both grumpy today as a result. Good thing Aunt Susie and Grandma Weber have patience so they were able to watch the little grump while the big grump took a nap before Clinton's shower.
I wish I would have taken a few more pictures at the shower, but this one is so sweet. This is Clinton with his friend Sadie.

Yee Haw!

Baron and I drove to Quincy all by ourselves today and it went well! Thank goodness because that could have been a long trip otherwise. I am not sure if it is because he loves his new carseat or if it is because it is his happiest time of the day. Either way - I am thankful! Grandma had this exciting new toy waiting for Baron and he loved it!

Ouch!

No one warned this new mom that she did not have to teach her baby how to bite!

Snack Time

Baron's turn...
Gus' turn...
Baron's turn...
Gus' turn...

Deep down I know this isn't the last time I will say "Ewwww" to Gus and Baron doing something together.

Weekend of fun, family and friends!

The last 72 hours are a whirlwind and I am exhausted, but it was all worth it! Grandma and Grandpa Weber came to visit and boy did I need them! I was trying to get everything together for a baby shower I was throwing and Baron did not want me to leave his sight or reach. Finally he settled down and allowed me to get things down while he read a book with Grandma. However, it was too cute so I had to stop to what I was doing to take a picture.

Here are a couple of pictures from the Baby Shower for my best friend Heather. She is having a girl, but I bet you can't tell from the amount of pink in my house ;) It was so much fun to throw a party for such a wonderul person.
After the shower Baron, Nate and Granpa came back to the house. A few of the girls were still at the house and Baron decided to show off. He crawled all over our hardwood floor, turned in multiple circles, batted his eyelashes and smiled for a solid 15 minutes. He knew he had everyone's attention and he ate it up! Shortly after everyone left he was after me again. I couldn't even hide behind the camera.
Did you catch a glimpse of green and yellow in the last picture? If you missed it - here it is again. Grandpa and Grandma stopped to see a family member at John Deere and found the toy department. They brought Baron the cutest little tractor that is motion activated and moves forward and backward. Baron likes to crawl after it, but as soon as he gets close it seems to detect him and take off again. It is funny to watch the wheels turning in Baron's head as he tries to figure out how to get it. This is a new favorite toy! In fact - I think he liked it so much that he couldn't go to sleep Saturday night. He stayed up until 9:30 which is 2 hours past his bedtime!
Sadly, Grandma and Grandpa had to go home today. We still had lots to do. It was the last day of a good sale on carseats so we took advantage of it. We also had to move the crib mattress down a level because Baron is trying to pull himself up on everything. It seems like he is growing so quickly. Next week he'll probably start applying for colleges ;)

Happy Boy!

He's back! No more cranky boy - just my happy little boy with a 2nd tooth! He also had meat for the first time and really liked it. He had such a good day he celebrated in the bath by splashing so much that I was soaked! Can I start using the word "no" now that he is 8 months old???

Oops!

It is the second day this week I am having to pull up old pictures because I didn't get the camera out. I can explain - Baron hasn't had much to smile about today. He must be cutting a second tooth because he was up 3 times last night and today will not nap and is super cranky. Poor baby. So here is a picture of him playing peek-a-boo from last night. Hopefully tomorrow is a much better day!

Wild Ride!

Again, Nate and Baron find the most simple objects in our house and have a blast with them! I was getting ready to pack up a few glass items that I have in our entry way because they are too low & tempting for the super crawler. When I went to put the items in my tub, it was full :) and apparently is a much better sled/car/moving vehicle than it is a storage container. Silly boys....

Baron decided to stand up to get out of the tub once he was done. I am busy enough with this crawling...I really am not ready for him to start this! Happy 8 month birthday Baron!

Little Coug!

Since I didn't get any new pictures today, I thought I would post another one from Saturday. My little Coug - rockin it in his diaper and jersey!

The beach and a dinner party!

The day started down at the Cedar Downs beach. It was a nice day, but the water was a little chilly so it didn't last long.
Later in the evening we went to visit Uncle Tyler and Aunt Carly at their new apartment. They made a great dinner for all of us. Baron crawled all over and gave himself multiple tours of their new place. He particularly liked the kitchen floor (right under Carly as she was trying to finish up dinner).
Nate and Baron were racing around the apartment. Baron loves a good game of chase!
Carly and Tyler have the new "Beatles Rock Band" game. I usually don't care for the rock band game - perhaps it is because we are not a musically inclined family. However, the Beatles addition is much better! Baron was a back up singer for his grandma and did a great job.
Then Baron noticed that everyone was watching the TV and we lost his attention for the rest of the game :)
Thanks Tyler and Carly for a great meal and an evening of fun!

Cougar Football Saturday!

I didn't blog yesterday because it was one of those "try-to-get-the-house-in-order-before-rushing-out-the-door-to-drive-to-Seattle-and-don't-forget-the-kid-or-the-dog" fridays. Exhausting as it can be, it is worth it for a weekend of spending time with friends and family. The game was terrible so we aren't even going to blog about it. Baron dressed the part, but did not go. It was too hot and a tailgate is not the best place for a crawling machine. So he had a great day with his grandparents instead. GO COUGS!

Time to wake up!

Even though it is Tuesday, it felt like Monday. Apparently I wasn't the only one who needed my morning coffee!

Ewwww!!!

Kids have a sixth sense. When an item doesn't belong to them, it is even more appealing. Usually it is our remote, cell phones or laptop. Today it was Gus' toys. Icky, yucky, slobbered, snotted, torn, shredded DOG TOYS!

If it isn't the dog toys, then it is the fraying part of his toy basket. One day I was sitting behind Baron and watching him bend over, do something (unknown to me) and then shiver. He did it three times so I looked to see what he was doing and he was putting this part of the basket into his mouth. He must love the way it tickles him because he still does it!

You won't believe this!

I can't believe what my eyes witnessed today. Baron was showing us how he sits like a big boy in the little chair at Lynn and Fred's house. All of the sudden he decided to climb down and stand on his own two feet. He only stood for a couple of seconds, but it was long enough for all of us in the room to see it. Luckily I caught it on camera, but thankfully it hasn't happened again!

Time alone with Grandpa and Grandma.

Mom and Dad went to a wedding so I stayed and played with Grandma and Grandpa Holstein.
Grandma helped me sit like a big boy in a reading chair.
Griswold and I played ball.
Grandpa taught me how to play the piano.Aunt Carly fed me dinner (she thinks I eat alot!) and then she put me to bed. It was a busy day!

33 Weeks Old

This picture is fun to take every once in a while. Especially since Baron is growing like a weed! It is also fun to see how he reacts to the props. Today he was picking up the cougar, yelling in his face, biting him and then throwing him. Now I know why the teacher at our baby/mama class described Baron as "intense."

Wednesday, September 2, 2009

Hehehe

That is the sound of the excited/guilty laugh that I hear every time Baron is off on a mission to get to something. A few times today it was the waving tail of Gus that he wanted. Thank goodness Gus has the patients of a saint.
