Play Date
Baron spent some time with Espen, Grandma Janet (Espen's Grandma) and Ju-Ju (Espen's Aunt) while Heather and I ran to Target for some much needed girl time. Baron had a great time as he always does when he is with Espen. Even though there is a 4 year difference they sure play well together. It wouldn't be that way if it weren't for Espen's patience and gentleness with Baron. I hope that Baron is learning from him so that someday he is gentle with other babies like his cousin Clinton and the other two cousins (one 1st cousin and one 2nd cousin) that will both be here in May!!! Congrats Susie & Kevin and Jen & Tom! We are so happy for all of you because this parenting thing is a blast!

A weekend of sweetness!
We went to Quincy this weekend so Baron could meet his great Aunt Sandy. He instantly fell in love with her. Afterall - she is a grandma of another sweet little guy so she knew exactly how to make Baron happy!

doing this!

Baron even managed to get a BIG smooch before we left! It was SO GOOD to see you Aunt Sandy. We are so glad you came and we look forward to the next time.
While we were in Quincy we couldn't pass up the opportunity to see this little guy! Gosh he has grown.
He was very entertained by his cousin. Baron would do his usual song and dance and every once in a while we would catch Clinton...
Can you feel the love pouring out of this next picture? Pure sweetness!
A trip to Quincy is never complete unless we doing something on the farm (he did wear his Carhartts all day on Saturday so that counts too).
We made it home on Sunday in time for dinner so Baron could play with his food. I am not sure he even knew the piece of food was stuck to his face.

A beautiful fall day!
Baron looked like such a big boy sitting on his bike. He can only make it go backwards right now, but it won't be long until he learns how to cruise around on it.

The funniest part is that sitting on the bike gave Baron a false sense of security. Judging from the way he jumped up and down on the bike, I think he believes he is in his exersaucer. There was a diving catch after this picture was taken. Good thing I had the camera strap around my neck!
Not my best picture, but I love Baron's little smirk so I had to put it on. Now that I think about it - this is one of his "teething" faces (he has many of them and most of them are accompanied by sucking noises). I believe we'll see his third tooth any day because tonight when he took his medicine he left a little bit of blood on the syringe (TMI?).
Baron has mastered the word "da-da." Tonight while we were eating dinner Baron was saying "mmmmm" with every bite of applesauce. I thought this would be a good time to teach him to say "ma-ma." As soon as I said "ma-ma" Baron looked at me and said "da-da." I guess it wasn't the right time, but is sure gave Nate a good laugh (and me too)!

Bugs, Apples and a Rash
We had a great day as a family today. Nate had the day off because we were supposed to be in Pullman this weekend, but sometimes as a parent/mom you have to make the unpopular decision. However Nate and I are very glad we decided to stay home because tonight Baron has a rash all over his body. I think it might be a reaction to the antibiotic so we are keeping an eye on it. On to more exciting things...
This little critter was a shocking surprise.
We spent a lot of time in the kitchen today.

Feeling better and ready to PARTY!
Based on this afternoon I would say Baron is back to normal. I am keeping my fingers crossed because the last two nights have been terrible and as a result I am exhausted. Baron on the other hand was not exhausted tonight. Here is the proof (insert your own growls of excitment here)...

Too sick to eat
Baron's snack of choice is cereal. He loves the Gerber cereal that melts in his mouth. However today he was just not feeling well enough to eat. He did manage to get a couple stuck to his face and fingers, but he didn't eat any. He just looked at us with this sad face and moaned every once in a while. Poor baby. This pictures just makes me want to pick him up and rock him.

Cuddle Bug
I always wanted a cuddle bug, but Baron is usually a "on-the-go" baby. Today was a different story. He had a fever and was very unhappy so we went in to see the doctor and sure enough - he has his first ear infection. All he wanted was to be held all day and even after dinner. So I sat and held him and tried to enjoy every minute of it even though he was making me feel like I was in a sauna. I guess one good thing about having such an active baby is that it is very very obvious when he is sick.

The Pumpkin Patch
We decided to take Baron to a pumpkin patch this weekend since we have a very busy October ahead of us. The "Pumpkin Patch" was unique. They were able to grow beautiful pumpkins without any vines!?!! It was kind of funny, but it served its purpose for us. We really just wanted to snap a couple of pictures (actually about 50 pictures) and pick out a family pumpkin. .JPG)
Baron was trying to pick this pumpkin up.
Baron's serious face which I am seeing more often.
Our little Holstein.
This quickly became a game of peek-a-boo.
We were at the pumpkin patch less than half an hour, but it was cold and that is about all the time a 8 1/2 month old can handle! I think it was worth it - I love fall!

Little Runaway
I left Baron and Nate alone for about a half an hour tonight to run errands by myself and when I came back this picture was on the camera...
Nate said "He crawled outside while I was cooking dinner." Poor kid - that patio is hard on the knees, but it is probably a good thing or else he would have made it a lot further before his dad noticed!
