Summer nights

Our deck is our second living room in the summer. I love it. Tonight we had dinner outside while Baron crawled around and played. Then Baron decided he needed a drink.
We thought it was just melted ice, but I guess there was a small amount of lemonade left in the glass because Baron did not like it!
Enough with the glass - Baron was looking for something new and exciting on our table...
He found exactly what he was looking for - BUBBLES!

FINALLY!

Finally - we were able to meet Clinton. It felt like we had been waiting for sooooo long. Sara's pregnancy was shorter than mine, but it felt much longer. Perhaps it was because they decided to wait until his arrival to find out if he was a boy or girl...or maybe it was just because I don't see her daily. Whatever the reason was - I am just glad the waiting is over.
It was such a nice weekend. Sara is doing great and Clinton is a beautiful baby with LOTS of hair. He is so tiny and so sweet. I already miss him. Here are a few pictures that we took while visiting the family.
Baron meeting Clinton. Can you imagine the trouble these two may get into in the years to come?!!

Nate doing his magic! He was always able to calm Baron as a baby using the five S's. It appears that he has not lost his touch.

It's 5 o'clock somewhere...

I am cheating today - I didn't take any pictures, but this is what Baron was actually wearing under that giant snowsuit I put him in the other day. I call this his Jimmy Buffet shirt. Today was busy, but we are packed and ready to go see Clinton. Now only if it were 5 o'clock and Friday...

Let me out...

So I can go see my new cousin, Clinton! Isn't he handsome? I think he looks like his Grandpa Ken. We can't wait to meet him!

Laughing off an old panic attack...

Today I was boxing up old baby clothes to go up in the attic and came across a piece that made me laugh. Back in December when I was VERY pregnant and wishing and hoping for Baron to come early, I had a small freak-out. I decided one day that we didn't have any warm clothes for a new baby (I must have forgotten we have a heater in our house). I was also sure that I was having a 10lb baby. So I drove to the Hannah Andersson outlet in search of warm clothing for our newborn. Here is one of the items I purchased during that day for our newborn.

It is still too big for our 7 month old who is 20lbs! So what does this prove? Perhaps I was in a state of panic or perhaps this just proves that we (I) had NO IDEA what a newborn and all that becoming a parent involves. At the very least, it proves that I am a planner and I planned ahead so Baron would be warm THIS winter!

Goodmorning Friend!

We had to swing by Heather and Eric's house this morning because I accidently left a bottle there yesterday when we were helping them move. We were there just long enough to snap one picture of the buddies together.

Over the edge

Baron is in a stage of peering around corners, over edges (of his changing pad especially) and through the slats in his crib. The other day I went into his room to get him out of his crib and he was pulling the crib bumper back and looking to see what was behind it. He also likes to look through the slats as I leave him for his nap. It kills me!
For the record - he started army crawling. It mainly started yesterday, but today it really clicked. I realized that if he really wants the object he'll move, but if he doesn't really want it he will just lay there and whine.

Aghhh...Friday

I didn't pull out the camera today. I was too busy crawling all over our house to encourage Baron to crawl. He sure thought it was funny. He is getting the hang of the army crawl slowly, but surely. When he is older I will tell him how I put his bottle out in front of him for motivation and it worked! Speaking of bottles - Baron is eating like a horse! Today he ate 38 oz of formula, 1/2 container of sweet peas, 1/2 container of sweet potatoes and 1 full container of a oatmeal cereal/prune/applesauce mixture. So here is a picture from yesterday. We (technically me) put together this cool foam alphabet puzzle outside on the deck that we got at a yard sale last weekend. Lucy for us - it still had all of its pieces.

Trying to communicate

Baron is in a difficult stage right now. He knows what he wants, but he can't communicate it to me. To top it off, he can not move to what he wants so he stares at it until I figure it out. At least he speaks with his eyes. Today it took me a very long time to figure out that he was interested in this...
PERFECT! And soon as he starts walking I will teach him how to use it! :)

Show off!

This scrunched up nose look is new...and hilarious!

The other thing that is new is that I let Baron stand with the assistance of the ottoman today. I was SHOCKED at how strong he is and how long he stayed there. Then I freaked out because he isn't crawling all the way yet so I immediately put him on his tummy. Then when Nate got home I let him do it again just to show him how strong the little stinker is...and he was shocked!
Nate's picture and quote for the night "I think he gets his nose from Gus."

Breaking News!!!

Baron Holstein has cut his first tooth (bottom right side). During an interview with him, he politely said "No pictures, please." This is only picture that the paparazzi was able to capture.

Story Time

It is only appropriate that we have a picture of me reading Hello Butch! to Baron considering we read it daily. It is a cute book and Baron LOVES it. At this particular moment he was very cranky so I pulled it out and all of his problems seemed to disappear - like magic!

Where was my camera?

Today was a big day for all of us. Mom, Dad, Nate, Baron and I went to yard sales all morning. Mom must bring good yardsale Karma with her because we had a few great finds! After the yard sales and a long nap we got dressed up and went to Dena & Chris' wedding. We had a great time. It was a beautiful event and the cake was *AMAZING.* Since I love to bake and someday would like to learn more about cake decorating, I always take note of the cake. It was beautiful and tasted even better than it looked. In my experience (no offense to anyone) the cake usually does not taste as good as it looks. However, this cake was GOOD! Is it obvious how much I like cake?! I can't believe I didn't have my camera with me...

Buttons and Toes

Baron is amazed by smallest things such as the buttons on his grandpa's shirt. Today he noticed them at four different points during the day. If he wasn't looking at grandpa's buttons, he wanted to get ahold of his reading glasses!
We spend so much time tickling Baron just to hear him laugh. Today he decided to tickle grandma's toes because he like to listen to her laugh. He thought it as soooo funny!

Can we please go back to bed?

Baron wakes up around 6:15am every morning. I love our mornings, but they don't last long. Usually by 7:30 he is ready for his first nap. In fact I could probably just feed him and lay him back down, but I love the morning and I hope that he will love it someday too! Gus would prefer it if I would go back to bed as well so he would be able to sneak up onto our bed!

Nap Time

Baron and I had a hectic day between swimming lessons and a dentist appointment. He spent some time with his buddy Espen while I was at the dentist. He had fun, but he skipped some precious nap time. Since I didn't get any pictures of him today I thought it would be appropriate to post one of him napping with his Grandpa.

Playing can be hard work!

Daddy Time

Nate and Baron always find a new way to make me laugh when they play together. Tonight Baron was wearing a yogurt container as a football helmet! At least they had safety in mind right?!?!

Happy Birthday Grandma Weber

Today we visited Grandma Curdy before we headed back to Portland. Baron was very active and showed her how he can clap, feed himself, and refuse to sit still for longer than 2 minutes!
